Established in 1991, owner Kenneth Gliesman of the Mineral Connection, offers a wide variety of mineral specimens at retail mineral shows throughout the area. The “Mineral Connection” is a part time endeavor based out of Kenneth’s home in the Sturbridge, Massachusetts area. In addition to mineral shows, Ken also offers specimens at his home by appointment.

A few words from Ken Gliesman
The mineral business is an offshoot of a hobby that I’ve been involved with for 25+ years. As the name implies (Mineral Connection) my goal is to have a very close connection between the source of rock and mineral specimens and the consumer. I have been participating in mineral shows since 1993 on a limited basis. Since 1994 I have been a regular dealer at the Albany Museum and Worcester Mineral Club shows.

In the last year or so I have been dedicating more time to “ramping up” the mineral business in both my collecting and sales efforts and have begun attending more of the better shows. In 2010, I added the Western Mass. Mineral, Jewelry & Fossil Show. Also, after a hiatus of many years, I returned to Gilsum, NH as a dealer. In 2011, I added the Mid-Hudson Valley Gem and Mineral Society’s show in Rhinebeck, New York.
Material for sale consists of approximately 50% self collected, 30% from special contacts I’ve established and 20% bought from wholesalers. On average 95% of my material for sale consists of natural rock and mineral specimens. Most specimens I’d categorize as aesthetically pleasing, however I do sell reference minerals also (i.e. Cumberlandite, Tonalite) as I find that many customers are interested in the geologic and scientific aspects. The remaining 5% I’d classify as lapidary material or faceted stones. I offer thumbnail to museum sized specimens with most being cabinet sized specimens.
